terraFutura explores a future in which technology runs rampant. I fabricate landscapes using discarded manufactured materials such as circuitry, extruded plastic, and other byproducts that reference high technology. Through the process of transforming recognizable objects into models of a possible future, I ask the viewer to question my vision of what may come and consider its consequences. These pictures reference the science-fiction hopefulness of past generations, while examining the modern anxiety of a technological nightmare future. Like most, I am caught between the destructive force technology exerts on the environment and the comforts and optimism it provides to everyday life.
